School News
• OLG Spirit Day - Our first OLG Spirit Day this school year will be Thursday, August 22nd. Students may wear an OLG shirt, t-shirt, or sports jersey with uniform shorts, pants, or plaids.
• Three Things Thursday - Our first Three Things Thursday this school year will be Thursday, August 29th. Three Things Thursday…remembering to be Thankful,Thoughtful, and Being the hands of Christ. Our scheduled service is to bring in school supplies or a monetary donation for the Holy Family Shelter house. Students may come to school out of uniform this day (while adhering to school handbook guidelines) in exchange for a school supply donation.
• Mum Sales are going on now. Students are beginning to earn money to fund their Washington, DC trip in two years. Please see your favorite 5th or 6th grader to place your order.
• CHESS CLUBS - Reminder, 6-8th graders meet in Mr. Shadiow's Room on Thursdays from 3-4pm. And 2nd - 5th graders meet in Mrs. Langenderfer's Room on Mondays from 3-4pm. Students should have a basic understanding of the game, we do not have a lot of "teachers" in the clubs to accommodate first-time players. Email mahinzzz@gmail.com if you have any questions!
• 5th Grade DEBATE CLUB - First meeting is TODAY! 3-4pm, meet in the Art Room. Be sure to turn in the permission slip, or bring it to your first meeting.
• 8th Grade COLOR WALK COMMITTEE: First meeting is Monday (08/26), from 3-4pm. Meet Mrs. Mahin in the Art Room! Either turn in your permission slip or bring it to the meeting. We have a LARGE group coming, so be sure to be on your best behavior and ready to work!
• ALL STUDENTS! We are collecting your favorite Jokes to add to our Joke-Wall and to spice up Grandparent's Day! To submit your favorite joke, please write it on a paper, sign your name and homeroom, and turn it into the Joke Box in the School Office (by the Eagle!). Have you seen this week's joke yet???

• The on-line Spirit Shirt Shop is open and the Back-to-School Sale is active (see flyer in your manilla envelope Open House). OLG Spirit Wear Link . Some spirit wear t-shirts are also available in the school office for $10 each.
• An invitation for Grandparent's Day (and special guests!) will be coming home soon. Mark your calendars for Friday 9/20/24, from 8:30 - 10:30. We meet at mass, and then they walk down to the school for cookies, the Scholastic Book Fair, and a BRAND NEW SCAVENGER HUNT! Also, a sign-up genius will be released soon for volunteers to help! We need Set-Up Crew, Mass Guides, Door Watchers, Cookie / Coffee Monitors, and a minimal Clean-Up Crew.

• Football Jamboree - The annual Southside Football Jamboree is this Sunday, at Roncalli HS. Entry is $5 for 1 guest or $10 per family (cash or venmo ONLY). No fee for players / coaches / cheerleaders. Come by and support our athletes! Cadet (7/8) play first, starting at 1pm, followed by 5/6th grade teams, then our 3/4th grade super stars - we are done by 7pm! OLG started the Jamboree some 20 years ago -- and still hosts the event. Our athletes join the Johnson County Catholic Knights with St. Rose and SSFC players. Look for us in our blue and gold gear!
• Boys Basketball (4th - 8th) - Start chatting with your friends, boys basketball registrations will be opening up in September! REMEMBER, the more players we have, the more diverse teams we can set-up! You do not have to be a PRO to play!
• Soccer - Come support OLG girls playing for Roncalli soccer! CYO/Camp shirt night Monday, August 26th. JV plays at 5:30. Varsity plays at 7:00. Meet the players, walk out with the team, treats for all youth players. Girls or boys - wear your camp shirt or club jersey for free admission to the game.

All shadows will be on an individual basis, with 10 students being able to join us each day.
