School News

• Three Things Thursday is Thursday, March 20th. Students may come to school out of uniform this day in exchange for a monetary donation to the OLG Hearts for Haiti ministry. All donations directly support the education of children at St. Georges in Bassin-Bleu, Haiti and other parish needs.

• Uniform Reminder - From the school handbook: Navy or tan, loose-fitting, walking shorts no higher than 3” above the knee may be worn with regulation uniform shirts/blouses after Spring Break until the end of the school year. Appropriate materials are twill, heavy cotton, or polyester in nature. Lycra, jersey, denim, and fleece are not acceptable materials. Cargo shorts are not considered uniform. Shorts are to be worn with the waistband at the waist at all times.

• Major Fundraiser for Our School - Our Lady of the Greenwood School will hold a Designer Purse Bingo ( License #002104) on Wednesday, April 30th at the Moose Lodge. Doors open at 5:30, games start at 6:30. Single tickets are $25, reserved tables $180 for 6 or $240 for 8.

Here's how you can help with our school's major fundraiser.

3. Donate a Designer Purse for the event. You may be that super-shopper who is always adept at finding terrific deals.

4. Sponsor our event. For $50, you can have your business, family, or group of friends sponsor a game. For $100, you can sponsor a purse. For $250, you can have an advertisement in our program. Plus, you will have shout-outs all evening long as well as our eternal gratitude.

• Easter Egg Hunt - Knights of Columbus Council #6138 is hosting the 31st annual Easter Egg Hunt on Sat., April 26, 2025, (the Saturday after Easter Sunday) at 11 a.m. at the field south of Our Lady of the Greenwood School. We’ll have a hunt for kids 4 and younger and kids 5 and older. It’s FREE with donation of a canned or boxed food item for the OLG Food Pantry. • OLG's Athletics announces... our 2025 Raffle (License #002104) Ticket Winners!! They are ticket numbers #104 (The Curd Family) & #182 (The Paliero Family)! Athletics raised just over $4,000 with your help. The true winners are our kids and OLG CYO teams! Raffle proceeds offset the Parish Life Center (i.e. gym) costs, team uniforms, and some equipment! • Trash Bag Sales Have Returned! Fifth and Sixth Grade students are raising money to go in 2026. Kitchen (15 gallons), Large (39 gallons) and X-large (55 gallon) sizes are available at $12 per roll. Please visit the school office to purchase and give them the fifth or sixth grade family name you would like to contribute to! More than $4/roll goes towards the students DC fund account!

• Gather the Shoes - Please bring your old/new/used/any shoes to the collection boxes by the gym doors. The Washington, D.C. group is collecting them as a fundraiser. Shoes will be collected through March.

• Roncalli Fall Cheer Tryouts - The callout meeting for parents and cheerleaders for the 2025 Football Season is Thursday, April 10 at 6:30 PM in the Roncalli Cafeteria. We HIGHLY encourage your participation if you plan on trying out!

Tryouts for all incoming freshmen football cheerleaders are Tuesday, April 29 from 4:00-6:00 PM AND Thursday, May 1 from 4:00-6:00 PM. You must be present for BOTH tryout dates! • Roncalli Parent Shadow Day - As a future Royal parent, have you ever wondered what a typical day at Roncalli is like? Now is your chance to get a glimpse of what it's like to be a Roncalli Royal! Join us for a Parent Shadow Day on Wednesday, April 9 from 7:30-11 AM. This is open to parents of any future Royals...not just 8th grade parents. If you'd like to join us for Eucharistic Adoration that morning, it will take place from 7-7:25 AM in our Chapel. It is the perfect way to start your day, and an experience not to be missed!

We will start our official day with a light breakfast and talks in our Student Life Center, where you will hear from Kevin Banich (Principal), Katie Hibner (Director of Campus Ministry), Michael Wantz (Assistant Principal for Student Life) and current Roncalli students.
