School News

•  No School Friday, January 12th - Teacher Professional Day

•  Formal Luncheon Day for OLG Students - On Friday, February 2 during Catholic Schools Week, we will celebrate our students with a Formal Luncheon. Parents, your help is needed to make this 3rd annual event a success. Please, check out the information at Formal Lunch Sign-Up Genius to learn more about the event and how you can assist!

 

•  Help Spread the Word - We would like to post OLG Now Enrolling yard signs throughout the Perry Township, Greenwood, Clark-Pleasant, Center Grove, and Franklin Township areas. These five areas represent the majority of our school population. 

 

In mid-January, our dynamic duo of Mike and Eli Denk will not only bring a sign to your yard, but they will also position it in your lawn. 

 

Saying "YES!" to a yard sign has never been easier! Please email Jan McManuns at jmcmanus@ol-g.org with your "YES!" and watch the magic happen!

 

•  Re-enrollment for the 2024-2025 School Year - January marks the beginning of our school's re-enrollment process. On January 17th, each current OLG School family will receive re-enrollment paperwork. The deadline for this simple process is January 31st. After that time, open enrollment begins. Look for additional information to come in the following weeks.

 

•  OPT-In for SMS Texts - You can now opt-in to receive SMS text messages from OLG School through School Messenger. In this way, we can quickly contact you in case of unexpected school closures, delays, or other situations.

 

Simply text YES or Y to 67587. Note: data rates may apply. Check with your wireless plan to see what that means for you. You can opt-out at any time by texting STOP.

•  In the event of a 2 hour school delay, Preschool 3 year old class will begin at 10:15 am.

Dismissal will be at 12:15 for half day students.  PreK classes will begin the school day at 10:00. Half dismissal will be at 11:15.  Morning Care will begin at 8:45 am on delay days.

• Cereal Boxes - In anticipation of the 100th day of school (January 24, 2024), the second grade is collecting full sized boxes of cereal for a presentation extraordinare that day!  So while you are out shopping, please think about picking up a box and sending it in to school.  The cereal will be donated to the OLG Food Pantry afterwards.

• SAVE THE DATE: Saturday February 17th (6-10pm) will be the "free" Athletic's Tail-Gate Party where raffle winners will be abundant! NEW this year is our FIRST EVER Chili Cook-Off Event! You only have to submit 1 "normal" size crock-pot of your chili. We will provide the crackers, cheese, sour cream, etc. Please email Carrie Mahin (mahinzzz@gmail.com) to register (free entry)!  Also, our SECOND Annual Corn-Hole Tournament will be happening ($10/team) - come have some fun with many untalented throwers (and some all-stars!). • Good Luck to our Boys Basketball teams as they start their Play-Offs next week.  Last home games (including 8th grade recognitions) will be this Saturday! Come support the boys! 5th grade at 9AM, Cadet C at 10AM, and Cadet A at 11AM. Recognitions will be at approximately 10:58 AM. Many thanks to our cheerleaders for providing amazing spirit and encouragement! 

 

• Good Luck to our Lady Basketball Teams and our 3rd Grade Boys Team as their games are starting soon! 

 

• SPRING SPORTS - Register NOW at www.cyoarchindy.org. While practices won’t start until March, CYO requires us to submit teams soon. With complexities in overlapping sports, low athlete numbers, and coach assignments, we need to see who is committed to playing ASAP. 

 

• Boys (5th - 8th grades) interested in Volleyball ($90) or Soccer ($80) will need to come to a call-out meeting (being scheduled after basketball finishes).  Because of the overlap in these sports (new schedules this year), we need to evaluate who is playing which sports, who is trying to play both ($170 registrations), if coaches are available, and how to best fill the required A teams. Please discuss with your teammates NOW to be prepared! Parents and athletes will need to attend to be sure everyone understands the complexities of this season. • Girl's Soccer (5th - 8th grades; $80) -- Yes, it is still a Co-Ed sport! Please be discussing if you'll be playing this spring. Teams may look a bit different this year due to boys volleyball overlapping. We need you registered ASAP to configure teams. REGISTRATIONS IS NOW OPEN! www.cyoarchindy.org 

 

• Girl's SPRING Kickball (3rd - 8th grades; $60) - Registrations are now open! www.cyoarchindy.org  Get signed up so we can determine if we have enough to fill teams. 

 

• TRACK (3rd - 8th grade, boys & girls; see SSFC website) - We run with SSFC due to their excellent program! •. Community Immunization Clinic will be this Saturday, January 13th at the Franklin Parks and Recreation Center from 9-11am.  Please see the attached flyer here for more information. 

•. Mark Your Calendars for OLG Trivia Night - OLG Trivia Night is coming up. Join us for an evening of fun and friendship on Saturday, January 20. Tables of 8-10 friends (old or brand new) answer questions as a team. No pressure… no one’s put on the spot. There will be 10 categories with 10 questions per category. Doors open at 6:30 and the games begin at 7:15. Free Throw Competition - Knights of Columbus Council #6138 is hosting the annual Free Throw Championship for boys and girls ages 9-14 to encourage the values of sportsmanship and healthy competition. Winners of this event will earn the right to compete at the district level. It will be held Sunday, Jan. 28 in the Our Lady of the Greenwood Parish Life Center. Registration is from noon to 1 p.m. EST; competition starts at 1 p.m. For more information, contact Alan Inkenbrandt at alinken@gmail.com.

•. Curriculum Meeting For Incoming Freshmen

Who: Parents/Guardians and their current 8th grader who is interested in attending Roncalli High School next year
When: Tuesday, January 30 at 7 PM

Format: English, Spanish, Burmese, Hakha, Zomi

Where: Roncalli Auditorium

What You Will Learn: We will discuss Roncalli’s curriculum of courses, and you will have the opportunity to go to classrooms to speak with teachers regarding different elective courses.

What You Will Need: Your phone! All materials are on Roncalli’s website, so we will be accessing the website during the meeting.
